Samina Berntsen lives life on her own terms: Focus, inner peace, and success with the Shri Yantra. Join an adventure at a high level! An adventure that began in Kashmir, flourishes in Norway, and mysteriously weaves eternal threads back to Kashmir and out to all who embrace it. – The symbol Shri Yantra has given me focus, inner peace, and great success,» says artist and entrepreneur Samina Berntsen.

Samina Berntsen (51) stands in front of a colorful wall of pictures at Galleri Athene in Drammen. Despite the different colors, all the pictures have the same symbol: an intricate system of straight lines, round circles, mesmerizing triangles, and lush lotus leaves. In the center of each picture, a solitary dot shines – like a focal point from another dimension.

«I meditate in front of this symbol every day,» says the artist behind the pictures, Samina Berntsen. «In addition, I draw it as part of my daily meditation practice,» she says. That’s how it has been for the past 12 years since the symbol with roots in Kashmir came to her during a time when stress and turmoil had captured her. But it didn’t really start there. Let’s begin from the beginning.

Courage and a New Life

Because it’s not only this mysterious symbol that has its roots in Kashmir. The same applies to Samina. She was only two years old when her parents sold everything they owned and placed all six of their children side by side in a newly purchased Volkswagen van. So, the family of eight left their Kashmiri hometown, Shri Nagar, and rolled into the unknown. Norway was the goal, and after four weeks, they had wound their way through country after country and now stood on Norwegian soil. Certainly, the nature resembled that at home in Kashmir, but that’s where the similarity ended. Nevertheless, the goal had been reached, and the new life was about to begin. It did, and within a few years, her parents owned six grocery stores.

«My parents have always been entrepreneurs, which gave me inspiration and insight that you have to take action yourself for things to happen,» says Samina. Since she was a child, she has looked at her parents as trailblazers. Without realizing it, their courage had a huge influence on her. The ability to make big decisions based on gut feeling without knowing exactly where it leads but still having full confidence would prove to be a cornerstone in Samina’s life.

Meeting with Peace

As the years went by, it became clear to Samina that she also wanted to live life on her own terms – just as her parents had done. She educated herself in skincare, medicine, and nutrition, and focused her attention on a life as an entrepreneur. A trip to India would prove to be important for her path ahead. Not only did she get a taste of the culture she was, after all, a carrier of on this desert journey in Rajasthan, but she was also introduced to a magical symbol she would never forget.

«Our guide had an inner peace that seemed soothing to everyone. Every evening, I noticed that he meditated in front of a beautiful symbol, and it didn’t take long before I meditated with him,» Samina recalls. The peace and contentment she experienced in front of the symbol were stored deep in Samina’s treasure chest. After three weeks, she returned happily to Norway. But it would be years before she saw the symbol again. In the meantime, life moved forward.

Her Own Clinic

In the late 1990s, Samina started the clinic «Funksjon Alba,» where in addition to working with skincare and women’s health, she offered what she calls «alba therapy» – a form of treatment using advanced electrical machines that enable the body to heal itself. Samina made it big with the clinic, and eventually, she became a personal coach for the entire management of the hair salon chain «Adam og Eva.» However, after ten years, she felt that there was something more calling her. She had long had a desire to create her own anti-aging product… Now was the time.

«This was one of those times in life when I was forced to choose between becoming a major player in the field or continuing on my own independent path. Every time, I have refused to compromise with myself because I wanted to live life on my own terms,» says Samina. So, in 2010, she made the decision to close the clinic and instead start the process of creating her own unique product. It was not an easy task.

The Symbol Emerges

Stress and restlessness quickly took hold of her. She realized she needed peace and focus to create what she desired. How would she find it? «That’s when the memory of the peace I felt in front of the mysterious symbol in India resurfaced. So, I began meditating with sacred geometry while also searching for this particular symbol,» Samina says.

She eventually found a version of the symbol that she now learned was called «Shri Yantra.» However, the version she found online was computer-generated and didn’t give her the organic feeling she was seeking. Could she manage to draw the symbol herself? Samina started drawing mathematical shapes, and little by little, the symbol appeared in her mind’s eye. With a pencil, ruler, and compass as her tools, the Shri Yantra symbol emerged on the drawing paper. «It was incredibly exciting because it was as if the symbol was drawing itself! I had no guide or template. In hindsight, I have found that this image is very difficult to create, and many people spend their entire lives trying to draw it. I was very amazed,» Samina recounts, who felt a deep inner peace as she drew the symbol.

Shortly afterward, she learned that the Shri Yantra symbol actually originates from her own birthplace, Shri Nagar in Kashmir. Now Samina learned that Shri Yantra is the symbol of abundance and prosperity, and it is the holiest symbol in India. Samina was ecstatic! When she meditated and drew the symbol, she felt like she could do anything. She could certainly transfer this to her creativity and entrepreneurship.

Sharpened Focus

Finally, Samina had found her way back to the symbol that gave her focus and peace. It set things in motion. A year later, her anti-aging product, Pearl Skin, was born and quickly gained recognition worldwide. «I realized that peace and focus really allow us to create anything. Through Shri Yantra, I gained a focused inner peace that allowed me to manifest a great product and achieve great success. From 2016, I also began creating the symbol as artwork,» Samina says.

In deep concentration and with great precision, she creates the most beautiful Shri Yantra paintings in all the colors of the world while experiencing an inner peace she didn’t think was possible. The paintings have been exhibited in several places, including Oslo Yoga, Drammen Sacred Music Festival – and now, at Galleri Athene in Drammen.

Shri Yantra helps Samina remove the noise from life so she can focus on the few things that truly matter to her. It has led to great success for Samina.

Her work with the Shri Yantra symbol also led Samina and her husband to choose a life in the woods in 2017, leaving the city behind. Now they live in a cozy cabin in the forest, where birds chirp, and peace is a reality. «The core of me told me that I should live in the woods to create and be close to nature. I want to be a guide for people who want to make conscious choices, and to be conscious, you need inner peace. I can’t be stressed if I want to be conscious, and Shri Yantra and nature help me with that,» she says.

In the woods, Samina practices what she calls «mental yoga,» a meditation practice where she focuses on the pattern of the Shri Yantra symbol. She finds that she gets incredible benefits from it. «Shri Yantra helps me remove the noise from life so I can focus on the things that really matter to me. It gives me better sleep, more positive thoughts, better mood, less stress, clarity in life, and more energy and joy,» she says.

Taking Responsibility for Her Own Journey

Now Samina wants to share this with others, both through the paintings she creates and by offering monthly group meditations at Galleri Athene. She also regularly holds seminars where participants can draw their own Shri Yantra based on a provided template. In addition, she continues her work in women’s health through her role as a women’s advisor in her own company. One of the most important things for Samina is taking responsibility for her own journey.

«I create the future I want by making sure I am content in my everyday life. When I am content, the good things that are meant for me happen. Plus, I see that I am much more productive when I am not stressed. That’s how I fill my own cup, which I can then pour out to others,» says Samina.

So, the time is up, and the light in the gallery is about to be extinguished. The door slides closed, and the evening blushes. But if you focus carefully through the gallery window, you can see it. The symbol, that is, hanging in all its colorful versions on the wall, fascinating, magical, and alive – just like you.

The Shri Yantra Symbol

• Shri Yantra is a type of mystical diagram (yantra) created by Hindus thousands of years ago.

• The ancient Shri Yantra has become a trendy design, but most people don’t understand the complexity, meaning, and symbolism of the nine merged triangles and the double ring of lotus petals. Few grasp the power of a precisely constructed Shri Yantra.

• A yantra in the Indian tradition is an instrument for spiritual and mental progress. The various elements in the Shri Yantra symbolize deep philosophical understandings that make the image a powerful source of inspiration.

• Shri Yantra is considered a sacred tool for mental peace, success, joy, and wealth, which has made many philosophers and scholars worldwide interested in the symbol.

• The dot in the center symbolizes the unity from which all reality originates. Outside the dot are nine triangles: four pointing upward representing the universe’s masculine power, and five pointing downward representing the world’s feminine power. Shri Yantra forms a union of the masculine and feminine in erotic embrace as a reminder that these forces are intimately interwoven in everything we see.

• The idea of integrating body, mind, and spirit is symbolized in the Shri Yantra, making it a perfect visual representation of our mental powers as the foundation of human potential in the universe. Shri Yantra is used for meditation, also known as mental yoga.

• When the symbol is placed in a home, office, or other places where people frequent daily, the presence of a yantra is very beneficial and nourishing. It can help you thrive in your business or career and also contribute to good health, happiness, and success. It can attract prosperity and abundance and even heal and protect because the primary vibration from a yantra is love and divinity.
